Here, I will post different things about my train collection. Click on each picture to find out more about the train!!
The BR119 was built in the 70s and 80s in my country, Romania. This would normally be a thing to be proud of, however they were known as the "Carpathian Terror" or "Ceausescu's Revenge" in Germany because of their numerous technical shortcomings. 200 were built at the "23 August" Factory in Bucharest, all of which were retired by 2006. At one time, up to 50% of the trains were in repair workshops. Past 1993, they were redesignated DB 219. This is also around the time that modernisations were attempted, but they were deemed too expensive, so the locomotives started being sold or scrapped. As for the model train, it's made by PIKO. It has a good build quality, with loads of details. It drives smoothly and has directional headlights. Unlike the real deal, I guess :)
The SM42 is a Polish shunting locomotive, being the first heavy diesel-electric locomotive to be produced in the country. Production began in 1967 and ended in 1992, with 1822 locomotives being made in that time. The Polish State Railways received 1157 of those, while 622 were used by different factories. The locomotive is famous for it's severe engine vibrations, an issue adressed by companies looking to modernise the locomotives in the 2000s, alongside the replacement of other parts such as the prime mover, air compressors and generator. It has a maximum speed of 90km/h and a power output of 800 hp. It was built by Fablok, a Polish locomotive manufacturer from Chrzanów. It's name is an abbreviation of Fabryka Lokomotyw (Locomotive Factory). The model is from PIKO. It has a very good build quality, but does run quite slow (because of the 90km/h limit in real life?).
